Posted 5/7/2019:HOBY State Leadership Seminars - Open to current 10th grade students. A 3 or 4 day seminar that helps students explore and discover their personal leadership strengths. Program will be held from June 7th through June 9th at Wake Forest University. Contact Mrs. Edmonson as soon as possible if you’re interested.

POSTED 11/14/18: Pharmacy Camp (Samford University) - a one week summer camp for rising juniors and seniors. Participants will experience hands-on learning about health careers in pharmacy, complete tours of local health care facilities and local pharmacies, participate in compounding activities and enjoy hands-on demonstrations in the McWhorter School of Pharmacy science laboratory. Open to high-achieving 9th and 10th grade students, C-CATS introduces top-ranking students to Clemson University through exciting weekend adventures. If you believe you are in the top 10% of your class and would like to apply for this opportunity, please sign up with Mrs. Murray in Student Services. There are 7 C-CATS weekends to choose from ranging from March - April 2019. Each session is limited to 50 students (25 males and 25 females). Co-Sponsored by AMVETS and AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, open to all students 6th-12th grades. The 2018-2019 theme is Why should you say “Thank You” to a Veteran? Word requirements vary by grade level. Criteria for judging essay includes originality, adherence to theme, and literary composition. National and state awards range from $1,000 - $250. Please click here for the application or here for the contest rules OR — check your student email for the full details and application form. Applications MUST be postmarked by March 15, 2019. Student is responsible for mailing application packet. See Mrs. Edmonson for more information.
POSTED 10/17/18: Information for Duke Summer Session for High School Students’ 2019 programs is now available! Choose from three transformative programs next summer:
- Meet with Mrs. Edmonson to review your courses and make sure you're headed toward graduation!
- Sophomores will take the PreACT in October (formerly the PLAN). This is valuable practice to help you better prepare for the ACT!
- All 10th graders will take the PSAT10 in the spring semester.
- Keep an eye out for leadership opportunities such as NC Governor's School (Fine Arts ONLY in 10th grade), NCSSM, HOBY, NCSU Satellite, UNC Catalyst Conference, and more!

- Summer College – A four-week, credit-bearing program for students currently in 10th– 12th grade in which they take undergraduate-level courses.
- Summer Academy – A three-week program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade in which they take a certificate course.
- Accelerated STEM Academy – A one-week, STEM-based program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade that consists of a variety of hands-on labs, tours of Duke’s research facilities, faculty lectures, and workshops.
